Alright. My turn. Personally, I liked the books. A lot. I thought they were an ineresting, easy read. Mind you, this was about four years ago before all the hype when everyone still thought you were weird for reading a book about a vampire.
Moving on.
I liked the books, and still do. The movies are alright, though I find them more funny than anything.I respect people's opinions when they say they don't like the Twilight Saga (or even one of the books) and can give legitimate reasons for it (the writing style, the characters, whatever). But if you don't have a reason and just hate it because you think it's stupid to like it, shut the f**k up. Also, if you're one of those people who doesn't like it and proceeds to bash on people who do like it, shut the f**k up again.
People are entitled to like whatever they want to and there's really nothing you can do about it, so save your breath, or your fingers, and just accept the fact that your opinion does not rule above all others.
As far as children reading Twilight goes, I believe that it's up to the parents. I don't think it's a good book for an eight year old to read, but I really doubt that an eight year old would even pick up that book. I don't know any eight year old that would even think about touching that thick of a book, whether it's an easy read or not. My sister read the books at age 12 and she understood them enough to know that it was fiction and that Bella's life is nothing like reality. Anyone who reads those and thinks they're real needs to check the publishing info. It clearly says 'fiction'. If they don't want to do that, then they can just look at the section they're standing in at their local bookstore. It's labeled 'fiction'. Fake. Not real.
If you're going to criticize a book for what's represented in it, look at what section it's in before doing so, please. Obviously, it's not going to be realistic.
Another thing: Stephenie Meyer's take on vampires is differnt, that's for sure, but who's to say it's wrong? The original vampire was an ugly monster, so if you're going to pull that argument, then Anne Rice would be 'wrong' too. In fact, anyone who wrote about vampires after Nosferatu would be 'wrong'. It's an illigitimate argument.
I don't know much about the fanfic argument, I don't read them. So I won't comment.
And finally, to wrap all of this up . . .
Who really cares? Arguing about this is pointless. Nothing's going to change. You can rant all ou want- nothing's going to happen. Just respect other people's opinions. You'd want the same if the argument were about your favorite band, book, or movie.

Nice works
